In an effort to promote stronger collaboration and cooperation, a delegation from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) visited the Nigerian Embassy in the Benin Republic on January 6, 2025. This courtesy visit was led by Toyin Oke (Manager), alongside Josephine Akpodovhan, IITA’s Liaison Officer in Benin, and seven other representatives.
Established in 1967, IITA is a renowned international non-profit organization headquartered in Ibadan, Nigeria, with a regional hub in Calavi, Benin Republic. The institute works to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa through research and development.
The courtesy visit to the Nigerian Embassy in the Benin Republic demonstrates IITA’s commitment to strengthening relationships with key stakeholders in the region. The visit allowed IITA to share its vision, mission, and achievements with the embassy while exploring areas of potential collaboration.

The visit was well-received by the Nigerian Embassy, with officials expressing appreciation for IITA’s work in promoting agricultural development in the region.
