Nigeria and Benin Strengthen Regional Digital Cooperation

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Benin, H.E. Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim, received the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who arrived in Cotonou on 7 August 2026.

During his visit, the Honourable Minister held a high-level bilateral meeting with his counterpart, the Minister of Digital Transformation and Innovation, responsible for the national strategy on artificial intelligence, Mr. Mahuna Akplogan.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and Benin in the digital economy, with particular emphasis on expanding fibre connectivity across West and Central Africa. The engagement highlighted the importance of stronger digital infrastructure in supporting economic integration, innovation, access to technology, and inclusive digital development across the region.

The Embassy welcomed the engagement as a reflection of the growing scope of Nigeria–Benin cooperation and the importance of sustained collaboration in harnessing digital technology to advance shared development objectives across the region.

Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Cotonou was established to enhance bilateral relations between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
