Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Visits Republic of Benin as Presidential Envoy

The Honorobale minister of state for foreign affairs of Nigeria, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu on, 14th June 2025, visited Cotonou as a Special Envoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The minister’s visit served as a crucial diplomatic engagement, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to fostering robust regional relationships.
The objective of the mission was to deliver an invitation to the Beninese president Patrice Talon; to participate in the inaugural West Africa Economic Summit, scheduled to take place from 20th–21st June, 2025. The summit aims to provide a strategic platform for enhancing regional economic collaboration and integration across West Africa. The minister who was received by the Chargé d’Affaires, visted the embassy where she engaged in a fruitful discussion with embassy staff appreciating the ongoing efforts in the mission.

Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu’s visit emphasized Nigeria’s leadership role in West Africa and its dedication to diplomacy that is action-oriented and respectful. The mission illustrates Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to strengthen citizen diplomacy, build mutual economic partnerships, and create a sustainable framework for regional cooperation. The upcoming West Africa Economic Summit 2025 is anticipated to chart a bold course for the region’s future, with Nigeria at the forefront of this initiative.
