The Nigerian Electoral Mission Participates in Election Observation in Benin Republic

Cotonou, 12th April— Nigerian Electoral Mission comprising officials of the Nigerian Embassy and a delegation from Abuja, participated in the observation of the recent elections held across Republic of Benin last week, as part of ongoing efforts to support democratic processes and regional cooperation within West Africa.

Representatives of the Embassy were deployed to designated polling locations, where they observed voting procedures, voter turnout, and general compliance with established electoral guidelines.

The exercise provided an opportunity for engagement with electoral officials, security personnel, and voters, while also offering insight into the conduct of the elections across different areas.

Speaking after the exercise, the Mission noted the importance of peaceful and credible elections in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting stability within the sub-region. The Embassy reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to supporting democratic values, transparency, and good governance in line with regional cooperation frameworks.

The observation also reflects the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, as well as the shared commitment to peace, stability, and mutual development.
